Selections from Job 20–21
Zophar’s acrid tongue had not softened as he waited his turn to speak again. He delivered three messages to Job—each one in an exaggerated manner. Zophar delivered his lecture not unlike a novice coloring by the numbers—his numbers. But the major problem with his messages was that they were wrong when you interpret them as Zophar intended. Job decided this was no time for passivity, so, addressing all three of Zophar’s points, he gave numerous examples of why Zophar’s argument didn’t hold water. As we see how Job handled his accuser, we find four responses to false accusations that are worth mentioning.
